Notes:

The inside of the carriage, with seated passengers, including a lady in a formal gown, men with top hats, a woman with a muffler to warm her hands, and a boy in school uniform with his bag and his phone. The carriage is lit by a single oil lamp, and seems much wider in this picture than it really was, since the tunnel itself was only six feet eight inches at its widest, and the carriage would have been quite a bit narrower in order to fit safely inside.

There are several associated pictures; see also the following, and the text in the newspaper follows:

The tiny station building

Omnibus Carriage

Interior of Carriage

The article itself is in the description of the station building.
