Hannibal from an old coin more
hannibal, portraits, men, berds, helmets, soldiers, kings, coins, circular
Hannibal (247 – 183 B.C.)
We see only a man’s head, complete with pupils in his eyes, from one side. looking to our left. he wears a helmet with a “Mohican” crest from front to back and feathers (perhaps of metal) in the front. He has a combed beard and moustache, which is long at the sides and curls down and then back. Abouthis neck a broach-fastened toga.
Some writing (Cyrillic?) on the background of concentric circles, in front of his face.
This appears to be from an old coin or medal, although i cannot read the fiery letters and Gandalf is not here to help out. It’s likely meant to be Punic, the language and script used in ancient Carthage at the time, but might well have been engraved incorrectly.
The circular border round the outside of the portrait might be interesting for other uses.
