This stylized wreath of ivy includes allusions to all four seasons, as well as the words “Hymn to the Seasons”. It almost fills a page, and the following pages contain the hymn so mentioned.

At the top, holly with berries. At the bottom, a summer flower. Within, a bird eats seeds, wheat is ready for harvest, and on the left are spring flowers.

If you look very closely at the highest resolution version of the image you can see that the lettering is black with tiny white dots, a technique known as criblé.

It would be easy to take away the middle from this oval wreath to insert some other message or picture, because there is a clear white margin between the outer wreath and the inner decorated text.
