Notes:

The city wall here is topped by people with shields and spears, and people in the front are using a battering ram to make a hole in a tower. Further back we see archers, and behing them I think a ballista. In the far back, a stream of cavalry has broken through the gate and is rushing towards the doors of the temple itself.

The soldiers attacking the city, if i look very losely, seem to be barefoot, whereas the falling defenders are shod. I am not sure what ths means, if anything.

The Jewish revolt pretty much ended any independence for the region; the siege of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Temple are decribed in the text called The Gospel of Mark (clearly showing that text to have been written, or assembled into its current form, after year 70).

Early in the year 70 Titus began the siege of Jerusalem, where the whole strength of the revolt was concentrated. The citizens made a desperate resistance, but it was as unavailing as when Pompey appeared before the gates. The city was carried by storm in the autumn, and the legionaries, irritated by the resistance, massacred an immense number of the inhabitants; the survivors were sold as slaves. The temple was plundered and burnt, and its sacred vessels were carried to Rome, the whole city was razed, and the plough was driven over its ruins. (p. 364)
