Notes:

Mark Lemon was the founde and editor of Punch, a long-running English magazine. He also wrote the song, “Oh Would I Were a Boy Again” which is printed in the book.

Youth’s best gifts, hope and entusiasm, were never lost to him, and the man of gigantic proportions was at heart a perpetual boy. Sympathetic, generous, modest, and true-hearted, he was universally beloved (p. 192)
