George Wharton Edwards (1859 – 1950).

When he was about thirty years old Edwards moved to Paris to study under acques-Eugène Feyen, and, in that time, travelled to other parts of Europe to make paintings and sketches.

He returned in 1884 to the United States and lived in Greenwich, CT, USA.

He wrote a number of books on travel and history.
