A man wearing only perhaps a thin night-shirt stands barefoot and bare-legged in a forest, gazing with improper interest at a naked lady who is tweaking his nose with two fingers and pulling his wrist away from the paper on which he writes. Behind him a small naked child, a boy, a putto or cherub.

The original artist here could be the French painter François-Nicolas Chifflart (1825 – 1901), rather than Chiffart, but i could not find anything out about this particular work, and it’s not clear why it’s in the book i have.
