Initial letter J with piper and rats more
people, men, musicians, musical instruments, inhabited initials, decorated initials, vignetted initials, initials, letterj, rats, animals, pipes, bagpipes
A dramtic decorated initial letter J at teh start of a chapter, used as a dropped capital (drop cap) and also partly raised cap.
Maybe it’s a bit specialised, but this initial letter J has a piper sitting on top of it with a feather in his cap, a purse dangling with gold coins falling out from where it has been chewed by rats, and a number of rats (with short tails, presumably black rats).
The original was signed X.A.RB. or possible K.A.R.B., and has a PH monogram for Paul Thumann with 82 around it, presumably for 1882. I removed these for use as a stock image, as they somewhat interfere with use as a drop cap.
