Initil Letter L With Cowslips more
letterl, initials, flowers, cowslips, wild flowers, botanical illustrations, botany, leaves
Ths vignetted initial letter “L” was used as a drop cap, or decorative initial at the start of the section on the cowslip. The L is in an ornate Victorian style with a diamond pattern on parts of the upright, and the drawing of the cowslip plant includes flowers, leaves and root. The engraving is unsigned but may well have been by Edward Hulme, the author of the book, who is credited with the main illustrations.
