This was a frontispiece to the July 1870 issue of the Lady’s Book magazine. It was printed on stiff blue paper, but in regular black ink.
The picture shows a man with a sad and dropping moustache jumping on top of a trunk (or suitcase, as we would say today), trying to close it. A boy pulls on a strap and two ladies press down to try to help. In the background a man with Express on his cap arrives, presumably to transport the man with the trunk to the airport. Well, to a ship. Alas, the trunk is over-stuffed and won’t close.
The drawing is signed B, and was engraved by Lauderbach.
