This huge American family Bible was published by Holman of Philadelphia in 1875; there’s a lot of reference material and illustrations including many by Gustave Doré. The binding is held shut by a brass clasp. There is also a version of this photograph with just the Bible on a black background for stock use. The Bible says “William H Bunting” on the front cover; presumably that’s the name of the purchaser. |
