A Victorian border (from 1860); the book has these borders printed around each page in the introduction, with several different borders used in sequence. I combined the borders for the left and right pages, which were clearly intended to be identical, since I can’t scan the whole page without hurting the binding. The original printed borders are mostly a light red, so I have also made a red border that is approximately the same colour, after allowing for a slight fading and for the yellowing of the paper.

Note: for prnting purposes, you’d want to apply a threshold to the image, so that it contains only two solid colours; I have not done that because correct thresholding depends on your printer, the paper/media used, and the inks.
