C. W. SHARPE, SCULPT.; H J. TOWNSEND, PINXT.

Ariel, the spirit of wind, is bound to serve Prospero, in Shakespeare’s play “The Tempest,” and is here drawn as a miniature naked winged boy lying on the tendril of a flower. He has a mischievous expression on his face.

Podsixia (griffinlady) made a coloured version of this engraving.
