La Galerie de chène de Hauteville-House.

Victor Hugo was proud of his library. This room contains an extremely elaborate candelabra for lighting and has ornate oak panels on the walls and door. There are some half-dozen books, some leather-bound, scattered on the floor, three or four of them open.

Hauteville House is in Guernsey in the English Channel, and is where Victor Hugo lived for fourteen years when he was exiled from France.
