Death and the Cherubs more
chapterheads, boys, men, people, nudity, cherubs, putti, garlands, bare feet, scythes, death, spooky
Six naked boys or putti dance holding up garlands; they have stars around their heads and their bare feet are on grass.
I am not certain how the naked boys with galands here and stars round their heads relate to the old man at centre kneeling in front of the putti, wearing only a breech-cloth, barefoot, sharpening his scythe. Is he Father Time, or Death, perhaps?
This piece was used as a chapterhead at the start of the magazine issue for June 1891, with no explanation.
