Edwars, Bulwer, Lord Lytton, who wrote these dainty lines, was an historian and a poet, although preeminent as a novelist; being author of about twenty romances. He wrote a few plays, among which is “Lady of Lyons,” one of the favorites of the stage. He was born in May, 1805, and died in London, January 18, 1873.” (p. 67) The engraving is signed O. Grosch. |
