Here we have a wingèd angel of death as a skeleton lifting up an hour-glass through which the sands of time are trickling all too fast. The angel is sitting on a gravestone.

The gravestone is inscribed with a Latin quote from Psalm 88 (psalm 89 in most English bibles), Who can live and not see death; the psalm continues, Who can escape the power of the grave?.

Quis est homo qui vi vet et non vedebit Mortem.

Ps[alm] 88

There is also a note that it was printed by H. Hondius in 1642 in the Hague.
