John Saddler was an English engraver working in line and mezzotint; he was known for working with a number of famous artists of th time such as Turner.

He died by hanging himself, the death being described as suicide during an attack of temporary insanity according to the Dictionary of National Biography, quoted by Egan in his Dictionary of Victorian Engravers, although it doesn't seem very temporary to me.
