Ludwig Johann Passini was born in Vienna, Austria, and was known for his genre painting: that is, for painting ordinary every-day scenes of orginary people. He studied art in Leipzig and Venice, later living in Rome and Berlin. He was exhibited at the Royal Academy and elsewhere.
