This fabulous engraving surrounded an article about a new chain off office for the Mayor of Wiesbaden, a city not too far from Frankfurt but maybe comfortably far from Moscow.

The chain was a gift from Emperor Wilhelm II of Prussia in 1897, who commissioned it from the Strasbourg School of Arts. It was designed by Professor Anton Seder of Strasbourg, created by the Munich court goldsmith, Theodor Heiden, in gold-plated silver, and presented to Lord Mayor Karl Bernhard von Ibell by the Emperor.

The city was a Roman spa, and this is reflected in the design.

It would make a great fantasy border, though, for example, with castles and turrets!

The original border is roughly thirteen and a half inches high and nine wide: larger than a piece of A4 or US letter paper.
