Von den jüngeren deutschen Landschaftsmalern hat sich Hans Hermann rasch einen bedeutenden Ruf erworben. Seine Bilder, in denen er fast ausschliesslich holländische Motive verwertet, zeichnen sich durch vortreffliche Wiedergabe der Naturstimmung aus; seine Technik ist eine originelle, kräftige, und auch in der Darstellung des Figürlichen zeigt er scharfe Charakteristik. Mit feinstem Verständniss arbeitet er auf eine harmonische Gesammtwirkung hin, die dem Auge des Beschauers wohlthut. Ohne in die übertriebene Malerei der Impressionisten zu verfallen, gibt er lebens- und naturwahre Darstellungen, die in ihrer lebendigen künstlerischen Auffassung dem Bedürfniss unserer realistich gestimmten Zeit entsprachen.

Of the younger German landscape painters Hans Hermann has quickly acquired a significant reputation. His pictures, in which he almost exclusively Dutch Motives utilized, are characterized by excellent Reproduction of the natural mood; his technique is one original, powerful, and also in the representation of the figurative he shows sharp characteristics. With the finest understanding, he works on a harmonious overall effect towards the eye of the beholder. Oh no to lapse the exaggerated painting of the Impressionists, he gives life-and-nature depictions in her vivid artistic conception corresponded to the need of our realistically tuned time.

Hans Hermann wurde am 8. März 1858 zu berlin geboren, besuchte zunächst die Berliner Akademie, woselbst er Schüler der professoren Knille, Gussow und Wilberg war. Im Jahre 1879 ging nach Düsseldorf und blieb dort bis zum Jahre 1882 als Meisterschüler des Professors E. Dücker. Von 1882 bis 1884 malte er dann selbständig und machte von Düsseldorf aus alljährliche Studienreisen nach Holland. Seit 1885 hält er sich in Berlin auf. In der ersten Zeit seines Aufenthaltes in Holland malte er rein landschaftliche Bilder aus der Gegend von Dordrecht und Rotterdam, später schuf er eine Reihe von Strassenbildern und Marktscenen, meist aus Amsterdam, unter ihnen das treffliche Bild: „Morgen in Amsterdam“, welches diese Lieferung ziert.

Hans Hermann was born on March 8, 1858 in Berlin, attended first the Berlin Academy, where he was a pupil of the professors Knille, Gussow and Wilberg was. In 1879 went to Dusseldorf and remained there until 1882 as a master student of Professor E. Dücker. From 1882 to 1884 he then painted independently and made by Dusseldorf from annual study trips to Holland. Since 1885 he stays in Berlin on.
