An engraving of Saint Bonaventura standing in a Franciscan monk’s robe or cowl, hood back to reveal his tonsured head, staring up at birds, children singing, and rays of light suggesting a higher supernatural presence. He is enclosed in a wooden/twig border with six side-compartments showing aspects of his life and symbols.

The comartment to the front of him, on our left, is available as a separate illustration, Crucifix with skull.

Saint Bonaventura was a theologian and philosopher. He is the patron saint of bowel disorders.
