This beggar is an older man; he has a ragged beard like mine, a tattered hat and cloak, and boots; he carries his musical instrument, the ornate hurdy-gurdy, on a strap over his shoulder.

The hurdy-gurdy is also called the wheel fiddle; it is not clear how accurately it is depicted here.
