Homer’s Odyssy7 (page 2/2)

details...
[picture: Front Cover, Homer’s Odyssey]

Images from the Breitkopf & Härtel 1894 (fourth edition) publication of Homer’s Odyssey, with 40 original illustrations by Friedrich Preller, made into woodcuts (i think) by R. Brend’amour and K. Oertel.

This is a large book, roughly 11x15 inches (28x38cm) with gold on the cover (and also cat scratches: much as we loved Abundance of Rain, he was a little destructive).

I bought this book at alt-saarbrücker antiquariat alt-saarbrücker antiquariat (i think) in Saarbrücken, Germany, on a trip to the LibreGraphicsMeeting conference in 2019, for which my travel was i think funded by the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) project.

Johann Heinrich Voss made his translation of the Odyssey into German in 1781.
