Gules of August (The).

The 1st of August (from Latin, gula, the throat), the entrance into, or first day of that month. (Wharton: Law Lexicon, p. 332.)

⁂ August 1 is Lammas Day, a quarterday in Scotland, and half-quarter-day in England.
