Cotereaux (French).

Cut-throats. The King of England, irritated at the rising in Brittany in the twelfth century, sent the Brabancons (q.v.) to ravage the lands of Raoul de Fourgères. These cut-throats carried knives (couteaux) with them, whence their name.
