Alleˊrions  [in Heraldry] 
               are small Birds painted without Beak or Feet, like the 
Martlet or 
Martinet. Others say, they are like Eagles without Beak or Feet, so called, because they have
               nothing perfect but the Wings; that they differ from 
Martlets, in that their Wings are expanded and the 
Martlets are close; and also that they are not represented facing as the 
Allerions are, as in
