Obedience (passive)

.—To put your persons in prison, your necks in the halter, and suffer yourselves to be sent from your country to fight and be butchered against your wills, but according to the will of your Tyrant, and pay heavy taxes for all this abuse, without murmuring, is passive obedience in reality.

Entry taken from Political Dictionary, edited by Charles Pigott from prison and printed in 1795.
