On the left a single storey stone house or cottage and behind it a castle, not ruined, with a square keep and a circulr wotwer with a spire on the top. Behind that a church with a tall apire. On the right a three-storey stone building wth a tall rood and chimney and, just in front of it, some trees and perhaps a gravestone. In the background the road eraches a group of buildings, the village itself, and curves to the left. The whole efftect is perhaps a little gloomy to modern eyes.
