Image description for Methought what pain it was to drown

[the image described here]

The picture is a scan of a printed reproduction of a watercolour painting. It is a “portrait” proportion - that is, taller thatn it is wide – and is predominantly blue, with some pink weed-like plants in the lower-right forground.

There is a mass of wrack, or seaweed, dangling down near the top of the picture almost to the middle, making a sort of invertedpyramid, and perhaps hiding a sunken ship. At the bottom is an old wooden chest, closed, resting at the left side of a pile of stones and perhaps coins. There are other sea-plants and creatures, including a lizard or salamander, scattered about.
