A well-dressed lady, complete with bonnet, climbs a step-ladder to reach down a book. The sketch or cartoon is one of a number accompanying an article about the British Library and some of the people who read books there. It is signed G. L., but since that does not correspond to any of the artists listed, I think it is the engraver, and the artist is unknown. |
