Notes: |
“The second figure shews the elementary and astral influence in the prime-eval state of man, as having no action whatever internally, but falling on his exterior or back parts; whilst his face, turned to the light, received the beautific vision of immortality and life from the gate of heaven.” (p. 1061) This is the second of four engravings of naked men; each shows some astrological or occult symbols as well as the person. Here, three circles behind the person’s back bear stars and words: SENSES, REASON and ASTRAL MIND. |
