Notes:

The mighty hero Herakles (Hercules) is about to slay the Hydra. He appears to be barefoot and naked, but there is a lion-skin cloak on his back part of which conceals his genitals. He doesn’t seem to have any pubic hair.

The title of the painting could be translated as Herkules in the fight with the Lernaei Hydra, and seems to be closely based on a painting by Heinrich Aldegrever done in 1550.
