Notes: |
The disciples of Jesus sleep while Jesus prays, “let this cup be taken from me,” although since they were asleep no-one actually heard his prayer. The disciples are depicted as caucasian men with bare feet and halos, and the identity of the scene is confirmed by the small symbolic cup above Jesus, who has a crown and is also caucasian. This is a miniature from an illuminated Book of Hours. |
