Drawn by H. Gastineau, Engraved by J. C. Varrall. Powis is also spelt Powys in the book, and this is the usual modern spelling. The castle is silhouetted against a sunrise (or sunset); in the foreground is a park or forest in which deer roam or sit beneath a large tree. The castle has many turrets and towers. |
