Cicisbeʹo [che-chiz-beeʹ-o].

A dangler about women; the professed gallant of a married woman. Also the knot of silk or ribbon which is attached to fans, walking-sticks, umbrellas, etc. Cicisbeism, the practice of dangling about women.
