Tinmouth Castle from the North, with a View of the Haven &c. Northumberland.

There was a monastery at Tynemouth as early as the 6th century, and the fortifications were builtby the monks for protection, some time between the years 800 and 1100.

This scan was made by a bokseller, and is of lower quality than I would like. I do not have a higher resolution version available.
