A beautiful engraving showing Sir Thomas More in his prison cell; the gaoler [jailer] approaches, carring a heavy bundle of keys. Sir Thomas More (also Saint Thomas More) was executed by beheading when he did not acknowledge King Henry VIII as the head of the Church of England. There are also 4:3 background and 8:5 background details. |
